Ethanol
Ethanol is a domestic, renewable fuel used as a high-quality octane enhancer, which reduces air pollution and improves automobile performance.
Since ethanol contains oxygen, it contributes to a cleaner, more efficient combustion of gasoline, which results in lower carbon monoxide (CO) emissions from automobiles. Ethanol-blended gasolines reduce CO emissions up to 25 percent. Ethanol can also be used to help reduce ozone-harming emissions, particulates, and nitrogen oxides from gasoline.
Using ethanol provides excellent benefits to consumers, taxpayers, the economy, and the environment. It helps to reduce our country’s dependence on foreign oil and stimulates the rural economy by creating an increased demand for corn and more than 200,000 jobs for Americans.
• Adkins produces more than 60 million gallons of denatured fuel-grade ethanol each year
